AHS boys lacrosse loses to Queensbury

QUEENSBURY — Sean Collins finished with five goals and an assist to lead Queensbury to a 20-1 victory over Amsterdam in a Foothills Council boys lacrosse game Tuesday.

The win clinched at least a share of the Foothills Council title for the Spartans for 13th in the program’s 20-year history. Queensbury, which has won the league title in each of the last four season, is 39-1 in its last 40 league games.

Sam Benedetto and Paul Wright each had three goals and an assist for Queensbury, while Connor White had two goals and three assists. Alex Chirgwin recorded a goal and two assists for the Spartans, and Brendan Duffy had a goal and an assist. Kellen Gannon, Mark Shevlin, Grant Riley, Aiden Cunningham and Nick Pereau all scored once for Queensbury (12-4 overall, 9-1 Foothills).

Kye Desbiens scored the lone goal for Amsterdam (1-14 overall, 0-10 Foothills).

Hannon and Kyle Miller combined to make three saves for Queensbury, while Matt Johnson made 20 saves for Amsterdam.
