FMCC baseball splits four games with Jefferson Community College
JOHNSTOWN — The Fulton-Montgomery Community College baseball team split four games with Jefferson Community College this week.
On Tuesday, the Raiders hosted the Cannoneers and won both games by scores of 9-7 and 15-11.
On Thursday, Jefferson won both contests by scores of 5-3 and 9-8.
In Tuesday’s first game, Joshua McCaffrey had a double, single and two RBIs to lead FMCC to a 9-7 victory.
The Raiders scored seven of their runs in the first inning.
William Newcomb had a single, double and two RBIs for FMCC, while Benjamin McHarg had a home run, two RBIs and scored two runs. Alex VanDeusen had a single, two RBIs and scored a run.
James Uhlinger had a double, single and scored two runs to lead Jefferson, while Hunter Holliday had a double and three RBIs. Jason Kavanaugh had a double and a single for the Cannoneers, Dakota Deasy was 2-for-4 with a run scored and Kevin Kapfer had a home run and two RBIs.
In the second game, FMCC rallied from an 8-3 deficit, scoring eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on its way to a 15-11 win.
McCaffrey had two singles, an RBI and scored twice for FMCC, while William Newcomb had two singles and scored three runs. Michael Reith, McHarg and VanDeusen all had doubles for the Raiders. Michael Brown, Noah Wygel and VanDeusen all had two RBIs.
Zachary Scannell was 3-for-4 with a home run, double and four RBIs for Jefferson, while Uhlinger and Holliday each had two singles and a double. Juarlyn Abreu and Derek Cuyler each had two hits for the Cannoneers.
On Thursday, Jefferson opened its home doubleheader with FMCC with a 5-3 victory.
Scannell had a home run, two RBIs and scored two runs for the Cannoneers, while Abreu had a single and two RBIs.
McCaffrey was 2-for-4 with a run scored for the Raiders, while Reith, Newcomb and Julio Jimenez all had singles.
In the second game Thursday, Jefferson scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh to rally from an 8-4 deficit to post a 9-8 victory.
Hunter Holliday had a single, double, triple and two RBIs for Jefferson (6-21 overall), while Derek Cuyler had two singles, a double and three runs.
Abreu had a double, single and scored two runs for the Cannoneers, Uhlinger had two singles and two RBIs, and Scannell and Kapfer each had two singles.
Reith had a double, single, two RBIs and scored two runs to lead FMCC, while Brown and Derek Lee each had a single and three RBIs.
Parslow, McHarg and McCaffrey each had a single and scored a run for the Raiders.
FMCC (6-10 overall) is scheduled to travel to Cayuga Community College today for a doubleheader. The first game is set to begin at noon.
