FMCC baseball loses pair to HVCC

TROY — The Fulton-Montgomery Community College baseball team dropped both games of its Mountain Valley Conference doubleheader against Hudson Valley Community College on Thursday.

The Raiders lost the first game, 8-2, and the second game, 9-8. Both games were played at Joe Bruno Stadium.

In the first game, Derek Lee had a double, single and an RBI for FMCC.

The Vikings scored two runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to earn the victory.

In the second game, FMCC fell behind 5-0 in the first inning and rallied to tie the game with two runs in the top of the third and three runs in the top of the fourth.

Hudson Valley scored four more runs in the bottom of the fourth and held off a late rally by the Raiders to secure the doubleheader sweep.

Noah Wygel was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for FMCC, while Dan Parslow had a single and two RBIs. Derek Lee and Jacob Petrie each had a single and an RBI for the Raiders, while Joshua McCaffrey, Alex VanDeusen and William Newcomb each had singles.

FMCC (4-8 overall, 4-6 MVC) is scheduled to host Jefferson Community College in a doubleheader today. The first game is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
