Area runners compete in Boston Marathon

BOSTON — A total of five area runners completed the 26.2-mile course Monday in the 123rd Boston Marathon.

Sprakers’ Craig Dubois posted an official time of 3:07.41 to finish 3,900th overall. Dubois was 4,604th in 2018 with a time of 3:16.42. Dubois posted a time of 3:08.14 in 2017 to place 2,483rd overall and placed 6,116th with a time of 3:24.30 in 2016.

Broadalbin’s Randall Cannell posted a time of 3:17.12 to place 5,854th overall.

St. Johnsville’s John Geesler completed his 32nd consecutive Boston Marathon on Monday. He posted an official time of 3:28.33 to finish 8,815th overall. Last year, he placed 20,007th with a time of 4:26.04.

In 2017, Geesler placed 6,407th overall with a time of 3:27.36. Geesler was 8,706th overall in 2016 with a time of 3:33.25.

Amsterdam High School graduate Meghan Mortensen, who lives in Glenville, finished 6,814th overall with a time of 3:21.04.

Broadalbin’s Kim Scott posted a time of 3:47.56 to place 13,960th overall.

A total of 27,355 runners started the race and 26,632 runners finished the event.

The field included runners from 110 countries outside the United States, according to the marathon website.
