Johnstown skiers second at invitational

CAROGA LAKE — The Johnstown Alpine ski teams posted second place finishes in the team standings at the annual Johnstown Invitational Saturday at Royal Mountain Ski Area.

The Johnstown boys were runner-up to Niskayuna, 36-47 in the team standings, while Shenendehowa placed third with 49, Saratoga fourth with 91 and Ballston Spa fifth with 108 points.

The Lady Bills finished second behind Schuylerville 46-62, with Saratoga third with 65, Ballston Spa fourth with 67 and Glens Falls fifth with 99 points.

Emily Fleming posted runs of 39.92 and 40.13 on the slalom course, while Taryn Ringer turned in runs of 45.60 and 44.04. Molly Lake had a time of 39.69 on her first run but did not finish her second. Emily Frank scored in the second run with her time of 47.40 to go with a 48.87 on the first trip down the mountain.

Robin Kruggel finished with runs of 47.72 and 47.80, while Molly Memrick posted runs of 53.12 and 53.66 and Petra Conyne turned in a run of 50.45.

For the Sir bills, Colin Cotter had runs of 38.78 and 38.92, while Ben Krempa turned in times of 40.57 and 41.25 and Carter Cheney covered the course with runs of 42.83 and 41.27.

Tyler Kortz finished with times of 43.46 and 43.79 and Jacob Martelle finished the course with identical times of 58.65 in his two runs.
