JHS girls alpine team places fourth

QUEENSBURY — The Johnstown girls alpine ski team finished fourth at the Shenendehowa Invitational on Wednesday at West Mountain.

The race was a one-run giant slalom event.

Ballston Spa won the girls team title with 25 points, while Shenendehowa was second with 26 points. Saratoga Springs was third with 29 points and Johnstown was fourth with 33 points.

Shenendehowa’s Melissa Taggert won the girls race with a time of 28.17 seconds, while Schuylerville’s Hannah Klingbiel was second with a time of 28.66 seconds. Ballston Spa’s Claire Felton was third with a time of 28.89 seconds.

Molly Lake led Johnstown, placing fourth with a time of 29.24 seconds. Emily Fleming (30.22) was 11th for the Lady Bills, Robin Kruggel (31.26) was 18th and Taryn Ringer (32.98) was 33rd.

Other Johnstown finishers included Emily Frank (46th, 34.98), Molly Memrick (50th, 35.83) and Petra Conyne (53rd, 36.99).

Saratoga Springs won the boys meet with a total of 19 points. Shenendehowa was second with 28 points and Ballston Spa was third with 47 points. Johnstown was fifth with 60 points.

Queensbury’s Hunter Montgomery won the boys race with a time of 26.38 seconds.

Shenendehowa’s Patrick Leonard was second with a time of 26.84 seconds and Saratoga Springs’ Tyler Munter was third with a time of 26.87 seconds.

Collin Cotter led Johnstown, placing 11th with a time of 28.71 seconds.

Ben Krempa (30.29) was 23rd, Tyler Kortz (31.29) was 26th, Carter Cheney (31.57) was 27th and Jacob Martelle (41.25) was 53rd for the Sir Bills.

Johnstown is scheduled to host the Johnstown Invitational on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Royal Mountain Ski Area.
