Cross Country Roundup: Broadalbin-Perth splits Foothills meet with Scotia-Glenville
BROADALBIN — The Broadalbin-Perth girls cross country team posted a 26-29 victory over Scotia-Glenville in a Foothills Council meet at Broadalbin-Perth High School on Wednesday.
Scotia-Glenville’s Delaney Krogh won the 3.1-mile girls race with a time of 21:45.
Broadalbin-Perth’s Gabby Larsen (22:17.60) was second, while Broadalbin-Perth’s Samantha Murphy (22:50.80) was third. Scotia-Glenville’s Olivia Wheeler (23:20.80) was fourth and Broadalbin-Perth’s Emma Frasier (23:28) was fifth. Other B-P finishers included Lauren Phillips (sixth, 23:35.70), Aubrey Jennings (10th, 27:57.30), Bianca Ropeter (11th, 28:38.20) and Sarah Larsen (13th, 30:14.80).
In the boys meet, Scotia-Glenville notched a 15-40 victory over the Patriots.
The Tartans swept the top-five spots, with Noah Greski winning the 3.1-mile race in a time of 17:46.60. Gabe Winters-Bona (17:48.80) was second for Scotia-Glenville, Ryan Bruce (18:11.40) was third, Alex Tebano (18:14) was fourth and Mike Pino (18:58.40) was fifth.
Danny Dylong was B-P’s top finisher, placing sixth with a time of 19:04.10.
Wyatt Couperus (seventh, 19:10.50), Preston Hadley (eighth, 19:30.50), Antonio Zevola (ninth, 19:31.70) was ninth and Connor Couperus (10th, 19:32.70) also posted top-10 finishes for the Patriots.
Other B-P finishers included Micah Smith (12th, 19:45.10), Devin Becker (13th, 19:50), Patrick Nellis (15th, 20:43.50), Jordan Perna (20th, 23:41.60), Gabe Leone (22nd, 24:59.60) and Ryan Gardner (23rd, 26:51.30).

FFCS boys, girls sweep meet
FORT PLAIN — The Fonda-Fultonville boys and girls cross country teams both posted a pair of victories over Canajoharie-Fort Plain and Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville in a WAC meet Wednesday.
In the boys meet, Fonda-Fultonville notched a 19-36 victory over Canajoharie-Fort Plain. Both FFCS and C-FP earned wins over OESJ, which fielded an incomplete team.
Fonda-Fultonville’s Shane Viscosi won the 2.4-mile boys race with a time of 15:14.05.
Canajoharie-Fort Plain’s Ty Perue (15:50.52) was second, while Fonda-Fultonville claimed the third, fourth, fifth and sixth spots.
Trevor Cline (16:36.27) was third for the Braves, Christian Pierce (16:40.21) was fourth, Myles Anderson (16:47.18) was fifth and Liam Viscosi (16:57.18) was sixth. OESJ’s Armand Root (17:12.84) was seventh, C-FP’s Trevor Howard (17:33.71) was eighth, C-FP’s Seth Wintermute (17:40.96) was ninth and C-FP’s Eric Elliott (18:11.99) was 10th.
Other FFCS finishers included Ryan Schopmeier (15th, 19:14.52), John Hall (16th, 19:41.49), Braxton James (17th, 19:53.37), Bennett Melita (19th, 22:23.08) and Jeffery Hattat (20th, 29:34.74)
Other Canajoharie-Fort Plain finishers included Michael Barlow (11th, 18:21.93), Andrew Martin (12th, 18:29.74), Michael Harris (13th, 18:34.65), Michael D’Arcangelis (14th, 19:01.18) and Kurt Sunderland (18th, 20:50.62).
In the girls meet, Fonda-Fultonville fielded the only compete team on its way to wins over C-FP and OESJ.
Canajoharie’s Fort Plain’s Sherry Huang won the 2.4-mile girls race with a time of 19:11.96.
Fonda-Fultonville claimed the next four spots, with Madison Nichols (19:18.14) second, Haley Clear (19:30.96) third, Avery Cusack (20:29.05) fourth and Kimberlee Snell (20:37.78) fifth. Canajoharie-Fort Plain’s Emma Karker (20:50.27) was sixth, C-FP’s Michaela Stockwell (21:07.11) was seventh, Fonda-Fultonville’s Madison Thomson (23:13.90) was eighth, Fonda-Fultonville’s Kianna Hanson (23:14.71) was ninth and C-FP’s Kym Terwilliger (25:27.02) was 10th.
Kaylee Freeman (25:38.46) was 11th for FFCS and Evelyn Yun (30:44.40) was 14th.
Trinity Chromczak (27:51.93) was 12th for Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville, while Margaret Christensen (29:46.27) was 13th.
Duanesburg sweeps WAC meet
GALWAY — The Duanesburg boys and girls cross country teams posted WAC victories over host Galway and Mekeel Christian Academy at Bob’s Trees on Wednesday.
In the boys meet, Duanesburg topped Galway by a 22-38 margin and notched a win over an incomplete Mekeel Christian squad. Galway also defeated Mekeel Christian.
Duanesburg’s Andrew Dresher won the 2.5-mile boys race with a time of 13:36.
Galway’s Holden Decker (14:20) was second, Duanesburg’s Sal Gallo (14:59) was third, Galway’s Ryan Ingle (15;15) was fourth and Duanesburg’s Paul Munson (15:26) was fifth.
Justin Kozlowski was eighth for Galway with a time of 16:21.
In the girls meet, Duanesburg defeated Galway by a 19-34 margin and notched a win over an incomplete Mekeel Christian squad. Galway also defeated Mekeel Christian.
Duanesburg’s Elaine Atanasova won the 2.5-mile girls race with a time of 14:51.
Duanesburg’s Jen Skeeter (15:39) was second, Mekeel Christian’s Madison Lilenthal (15:53) was third, Galway’s Emma Jordan (16:23) was fourth and Duanesburg’s Hannah Avery (16:30) was fifth.
Natalie Zembsch (16:48) was seventh for Galway, while Morgan Drouin (18:14) was ninth.
Schoharie boys sweep WAC meet
SCHOHARIE — The Schoharie boys cross country team posted wins over Mayfield and Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons on Tuesday.
The Indians posted 22-33 win over Bishop Gibbons as well as notching a 15-50 win over Mayfield.
Schoharie’s Andrew Hahn won the boys race with a time of 16:57, while Schoharie’s Austin Lints (17:56) was second. Mayfield’s Shawn Allen (18:56) was third, Mayfield’s Brant Fancher (19:03) was fourth and Bishop Gibbons’ Ben Verbicky (19:32) was fifth.
In the girls meet, Bishop Gibbons posted 15-50 wins over Mayfield and Schoharie, while Berne-Knox-Westerlo notched a 15-50 win over Mayfield and a 22-33 victory over Bishop Gibbons.
Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s Michelle Puzulis won the girls race with a time of 19:49.
Mayfield’s Fianna Halloran was second with a time of 20:14.
Schoharie’s Abigail Kosier (22:02) was third, Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s Caroline Mndell (22:03) was fourth and Schoharie’s Jenna Leonardi (22:18) was fifth.
