Boys Soccer Roundup: Fonda-Fultonville blanks Canajoharie, 2-0

FONDA — Tyler Sweet and Justin Newcomer scored to lift Fonda-Fultonville to a 2-0 victory over Canajoharie in a Western Athletic Conference boys soccer contest Monday.

Cody Hanson added an assist for the Braves, who outshot the Cougars by a 21-14 margin.

Mitch Araya made six saves to post the shutout for FFCS.

Jared Bentz made six stops for for Canajoharie.

Fonda-Fultonville (3-7-1 overall, 2-5-1 WAC) is scheduled to host Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons on Friday at 7 p.m.

Canajoharie (1-9-1 overall, 0-5-1 WAC) is slated to travel to Northville on Wednesday for a 4:15 p.m. contest.

Mayfield 3, Galway 2, OT

GALWAY — Trailing 2-0, Mayfield scored twice in the last five minutes of regulation to force Galway to overttime.

In the extra session, Josh Wasson scored the game-winning goal for Mayfield.

Wasson also scored the game-tying goal for the Panthers on an assist from Anthony Yuret.

Daniel Leach also scored on an assist from Wasson for Mayfield (9-1 overall, 7-0 WAC), which outshot Galway by a 11-3 margin.

Charlie Clarke had a goal and an assist for Galway (2-8-2 overall, 1-5-2 WAC), while Hunter Jenison also scored.

Evan Lehr made one save for the Panthers, Henry Flint made eight saves for the Golden Eagles.

OESJ 7, Schoharie 2

ST. JOHNSVILLE — Jack Brundage and Chinnakrit Aroontheerapoj each had a hat trick and an assist to lead Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville to a WAC victory over Schoharie.

Mason Snell also scored and had an assist for the Wolves, while Zach Mosher and Paeton Dillenbeck each had an assist.

Derek Dietz and Daniel Bernhardt scored for Schoharie, while Dustin Bengtson and Noah Fagnani each had an assist.

Adan Vasquez made five saves for OESJ.

Bailey Smart (4 saves) and Eddie Bond (2 saves) combined to make six saves for Schoharie.

Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville (10-1 overall, 8-1 WAC) is scheduled to travel to Mayfield on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. contest.

Fort Plain 7, Northville 1

FORT PLAIN — Jaxson Yacowenia netted a hat trick to lead Fort Plain to a WAC victory over Northville.

Ethan Spaulding finished with two goals and one assist for the Hilltoppers (8-3 overall, 5-2 WAC), while Troy Butler had goal and an assist.

Ethan Schoch also scored for Fort Plain, while Ethan Reese had three assists.

Gabe Travis also had an assist for the Hilltoppers, who finished with a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.

Jacob Frank scored the lone goal for Northville on an assist from Griffin Leiby

Chase Wood made six saves for Northville (2-9 overall, 1-7 WAC).

Bishop Gibbons 3, Mekeel Christian 2

SCHENECTADY — Connor Barber scored all three goals to lift Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Mekeel Christian Academy.

Wil Lawson had an assist for the Golden Knights.

Lens Lima scored twice for Mekeel Christian, while Daniel McCarty added an assist.

Northern Soccer League

Wells 3, Indian Lake-Long Lake 2

INDIAN LAKE — Daniel Johnson, Matthew Richard and Jordan Blanchard all scored to lead Wells to a victory over Indian Lake-Long Lake.

Byron Smart, Henry Frick and Matt Spegle all had assists for the Indians.

Ben King and Aidan Atwell scored for Indian Lake-Long Lake, while Kohtaro Uchida had two assists.

Sebastian Starcher made 14 saves for Indian Lake-Long Lake.
