Girls Soccer Roundup: Late PK lifts Mayfield past Northville

NORTHVILLE — Taryn LaFontaine converted a penalty kick with two minutes to play to lift Mayfield to a 2-1 victory over Northville in a Western Athletic Conference girls soccer contest Wednesday.

Kelsey Meca also scored for the Lady Panthers.

Bre Strouse scored the lone goal for Northville on an assist from Brytney Moore.

Kat Knecht made six saves for Mayfield, while Emily Shepard made three stops for the Lady Falcons.

Northville (2-2 overall, 1-1 WAC) is scheduled to travel to Galway on Friday for a 4:30 p.m. contest., while Mayfield (2-2 overall, 2-0 WAC) is scheduled to face Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville in a non-league contest at Johnstown High School on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

OESJ 1, Middleburgh 0

ST. JOHNSVILLE — Alexis Klock scored the game’s only goal to lead Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville to a WAC victory over Middleburgh.

Ashlee Shelmandine made three saves for the Lady Wolves, who outshot the Knights by a 10-8 margin.

Cameryn Shultes made six saves for Middleburgh.

OESJ (2-1-2 overall, 1-0 WAC) is scheduled to face Mayfield at Johnstown High School for a non-league contest Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Fonda-Fultonville 10, Berne-Knox-Westerlo 0

FONDA — Alyssa Duval finished with a hat trick to power Fonda-Fultonville to a WAC victory over Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

Sierra Rose scored twice for the Lady Braves, while Carly Atty had two goals and three assists. Giuliana Capparello, Lindsay Lombardoni and Kaleigh Smith also scored for FFCS (1-4 overall, 1-1 WAC), while Stella Williams recorded four assists. Kyla Smith also had an assist for the Lady Braves.

Nicki Filkins made 14 saves for Berne-Knox-Westerlo, which was outshot 28-5.

Fonda-Fultonville is scheduled to travel to Schoharie on Friday for a 4:30 p.m. contest.


Canajoharie 3, Fort Plain 0

FORT PLAIN –Taya Yacobucci finished with a goal and an assist to lead Canajoharie to a non-league victory over Fort Plain.

Caitlyn Baker and Abigail Smith also scored for the Cougars, while Kylee Richard had two assists.

Fort Plain (2-2 overall) is scheduled to travel to Mekeel Christian Academy on Friday, while Canajoharie (4-0 overall) is slated to host Duanesburg on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Cobleskill-Richmondville 5, Galway 0

RICHMONDVILLE — Ali Picatte scored twice to lead Cobleskill-Richmondville to a non-league victory over Galway.

Ali Pressley, Emma Osterhoudt and Eleesia Camino also scored for the Bulldogs.

Sidney Dymes made 10 saves to post the shutout for Cobleskill-Richmondville.

Ruth Reichard and Kimberly Martin split time in goal for Galway (0-4 overall).
