Area riders fare well at Royal
CAROGA LAKE — Several area riders posted victories during Monster Energy Supercross competition Wednesday at Royal Mountain Ski Area.
Mayfield’s Jordan Miller, Fonda’s Tyler Blowers, Gloversville’s Burton Wilson, Johnstown’s Zach Szurek, Fonda’s Tyler Miller and Johnstown’s Maxx Miller.
Blowers won the schoolboy and 122-open amateur classes.
Jordan Miller won the quad schoolboy class. She also was second in the pit bike class.
Tyler Miller won the mini quad 50cc production class, Wilson won the plus-30 expert class and Szurek won the pit bike class.
Maxx Miller won the 50cc pee wee senior 7-and-8-year-old class. He also was third in the mini 60cc 7- to 11-year-old class.
In addition to Blowers, four other riders claimed wins in multiple classes.
Westerlo’s Blake Shaver won the junior mini 9- to 11-year-old and mini 80cc 9- to 11-year-old classes, while Fort Edward’s Dustin Peterson won the plus-30 amateur and 122-250 amateur classes.
Cobleskill’s Joe Edwards won the open mini 10- to 16-year-old class and the mini 80cc 12- to 15-year-old class, while Burnt Hills’ Bryce Mussen won the 122-open novice and 122-250 novice classes.
Other winners included Schenevus’ Thomas Snyder (quad novice), Richfield Springs’ Theodore Vanbrink (quad expert), Yorkville’s Jamie Nimey (plus-40 amateur), East Berne’s Alissa Duncan (mini quad 51-90cc production), Rome’s Jason Gattari (122-open expert) and Oriskany Falls’ Codi Russell (122-125 two-stroke).
Several area riders posted top-five finishes.
Fonda’s Carter Petersen was second in the schoolboy class.
Petersen also was second in the 122-250 novice class, St. Johnsville’s Gerald Shelmandine was third and Johnstown’s J.T. Vietri was fifth. Petersen added a third-place finish in the 122-125 two-stroke class, while Nelliston’s Brandon Dygert was fifth.
In the 122-open novice class, Gloversville’s Nicholas Telfer was third, Gloversville’s Matthew Telfer was fourth and Gloversville’s Jake Walrath was fifth.
In the plus-30 amateur class, Gloversville’s Sean Dufel was second, Caroga Lake’s Chad Stumpf was third, Johnstown’s Jason Cook was fourth and Gloversville’s Richard Dacorsi was fifth.
Gloversville’s Evan Darling was fourth in the 50cc pee wee senior 7-and-8-year-old class, while Johnstown’s Kip Simonds was fifth.
In the pit bike class, Fonda’s Timothy Wilmot was third and Broadalbin’s Shane Porter was fourth.
Dolgeville’s Jim George was fourth in the mini 60cc 7- to 11-year-old class, while Johnstown’s Michael Ward was second in the plus-30 expert class.
In the mini 80cc 12- to 15-year-old class, Johnstown’s Bennett Melita was second, Johnstown’s Hayden Zelich was third, Gloversville’s Devin Buyce was fourth and Amsterdam’s Calvin Dopp was fifth.
Fonda’s Charles Rose was second in the open mini 10- to 16-year-old class, while Pattersonville’s Marc Hartje was third, Zelich was fourth and Melita was fifth.
Gloversville’s Tyler Rizzo was second in the mini quad 51-90cc production class, while Mayfield’s Chloe Vannostrand was fourth.
Gloversville’s Dennis Fitzpatrick was second in the plus-40 amateur class, while Gloversville’s Keith Orr was fourth.
Mayfield’s Andrew Ashbey was second in the quad novice class, while Broadalbin’s Anthony Musto was third.
A total of 104 riders competed Wednesday.
