Swatt set to speak at sports award banquet

GLOVERSVILLE — The Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce will host its 31st annual Sports Award Banquet on Wednesday at the Holiday Inn, 308 N. Comrie Ave. in Johnstown at 7 p.m. with keynote speaker Lexi Swatt.

At the event, the Chamber hosts and honors the top 36 athletes from Fulton County high schools, representatives from those school’s championship teams and their coaches, and names a male and female Athlete of the Year.

Lexi Swatt is a 2013 graduate of Johnstown High School, where she was a four-sport athlete, playing field hockey, basketball, lacrosse and softball for the Lady Bills.

She attended the chamber banquet in 2013 after being named one of Johnstown’s top athletes. 

Swatt attended Monmouth University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in communication with a concentration in radio and television, and a minor in sports communication.

While a college student, Swatt also worked for the New York Jets as a member of “the Launch Crew,” and interned with CBS Sports in New York City. She accepted her first full-time job with Bleacher Report where she was part of the young athletes and features departments. 

She has worked on projects for, or on location for, national sporting events including Super Bowl 50, the NCAA men’s basketball tournament and Final Four games, and the Daytona 500.  

Swatt currently resides in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where she works at CBS Sports digital as the production assistant for the show “Reiter’s Block.”

She was part of the production team that launched ‘CBS Sports HQ’ a 24/7 free streaming service which can be accessed on the cbssports.com platform. 

A limited number of tickets are available at $25 per person and can be obtained at the Chamber’s Gloversville office at 2 N. Main St. or at the Holiday Inn, 308 N. Comrie Ave. in Johnstown.
