Amsterdam gets past Jamestown, 8-6

JAMESTOWN — In the first meeting between the teams, Amsterdam rallied for an 8-6 victory over Jamestown in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League contest Wednesday at Diethrick Park.

Jamestown scored twice in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead before the Mohawks answered with four runs in the top of the second.

The Jammers regained the lead with four runs in the bottom of the seventh before Amsterdam plated four runs in the top of the eighth to earn the victory.

Richie Barrella led the Mohawks’ offense with a 4-for-5 effort at the plate, while Michael Ludowig had a single, double and an RBI. Elvis Peralta had a double, single, two RBIs and two runs scored for Amsterdam and Jake Hammon had a double, RBI and a run scored. Sam Praytor had a single and two RBIs for the Mohawks, Richie Nizza had a single and two RBIs, and Chris Lanzilli had a single and scored a run.

Alex O’Donnell had two doubles and four RBIs for Jamestown, while Josh Brammell had a single, double and scored two runs. Brandon Nania added a double for the Jammers and Chase Keng finished with a single, an RBI and two runs scored.

Amsterdam (4-5 overall) is scheduled to host Albany today at 6:35 p.m. at Shuttleworth Park.
