H.S. Softball Roundup: Tartans roll past Huskies

GLOVERSVILLE — Lauren Zeglen had a home run, double, three singles and three RBIs to power Scotia-Glenville to a 12-3 victory over Gloversville in a Foothills Council softball game at Gloversville High School.

Mary Zeman added a two-run home run for the Tartans, who improved to 10-5 overall and 10-2 in Foothills Council play.

Gloversville (8-7 overall, 3-7 Foothills) is scheduled to host South Glens Falls today at 4:30 p.m.

Emma Guilfoil was 3-for-4 for the Spartans (8-8 overall, 7-5 Foothills), while Jasmine Pepe and Samantha Brayton each went 2-for-4.

Alex Thiessen had a double for Johnstown (2-10 overall, 1-9 Foothills).

On Tuesday, the Lady Bills posted a 15-11 victory at Broadalbin-Perth.

Zoe Petrie and Grace Giarrizzo each had two singles for the Lady Bills, while Joelle Bump, Thiessen and Sydney Darling all had a single.

BROADALBIN — Emma Patrei pitched a six-inning perfect game as Amsterdam blanked Broadalbin-Perth in a Foothills Council contest.

Patrei struck out 10 of 18 B-P batters she faced to earn the victory.

Sydney Szczepanik and Karly Power each had four hits for Amsterdam (11-5 overall, 8-4 Foothills), while Megan LaMont had two singles and a triple.

The Lady Rams are scheduled to travel to Gloversville on Saturday for a 7 p.m. contest.

Broadalbin-Perth (1-13 overall, 1-11 Foothills) is scheduled to host Hudson Falls on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

MAYFIELD — Jillian Botch and Marissa Willie combined for a five-inning no-hitter to lead Mayfield to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville.

Botch struck out five over the first three innings, while Willie struck out three in the final two innings.

Taryn LaFontaine finished with a triple, double and an RBI for Mayfield (9-4 overall, 8-1 WAC), while Bri Hubiak added two singles and three RBIs. Sydney Sheldon recorded two singles for the Lady Panthers, Sydney Benton had a single and three RBIs and Kaylee Hampton had a single and scored two runs.

OESJ (2-10 overall, 1-9 WAC) is scheduled to travel to Fonda-Fultonville today for a 4:30 p.m. contest, while Mayfield is slated to travel to FFCS on Friday for a 4:30 p.m. game.
