H.S. Softball Roundup: Lady Braves rally past Galway, 8-7

FONDA — Sierra Rose plated the game-winning runs with a two-run, two-out single to left field in the bottom of the seventh to lead Fonda-Fultonville to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Galway.

Brianne Egelston had a three-run home run, single and an RBI for FFCS (10-4 overall, 8-2 WAC), while Shelby Crahan had a triple.

Mikayla Neahr, Leah Oughton and Jill Quay all finished with two hits for Galway (5-9 overall, 5-4 WAC), while Emma Smith had a double, triple, two runs scored and two RBIs.

Fonda-Fultonville is slated to travel to Middleburgh today for a 4:30 p.m. contest, while Galway is set to travel to Duanesburg on Thursday.

Mayfield 10, Duanesburg 9

MAYFIELD — Bri Hubiak doubled home Kaylee Hampton with the winning run to cap off a three-run rally by Mayfield in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Lady Panthers edged Duanesburg in a Western Athletic Conference contest.

Hubiak also had a single and finished with two RBIs for Mayfield (8-4 overall, 7-1 WAC).

Sydney Benton had two singles and three RBIs for the Lady Panthers, while Lindsey Hampton finished with three singles and three runs scored.

Taryn LaFontaine had three singles and three runs scored for Mayfield, and Sydney Sheldon had two singles and two RBIs.

Emily Lenehan and Caitlin Menzies each had two hits for Duanesburg. Menzies drove in a pair of runs and Lenehan scored three runs. Morgan Hoffmann added a double and an RBI for the Eagles.

Northville 19, Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville 14

NORTHVILLE — Jessica Miller homed to help Northville post a WAC victory over Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville.

It was the first win of the season for the Lady Falcons and the first win for the program since 2012, the last year the school fielded a varsity team.

Northville (1-8 overall, 1-8 WAC) scored seven of its runs in the third inning.

OESJ slipped to 2-9 overall and 1-8 in WAC play with the loss.

SCHOHARIE — Jailene Santiago threw a five-inning no-hitter to lead Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons to a WAC victory over Schoharie.

Santiago struck out 14 and walked three for the Golden Knights. Santiago also went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored for Bishop Gibbons (9-3 overall, 9-1 WAC), while. Abby Hamilton added two hits. two RBIs and scored three runs.

SCOTIA — Megan Charnews had two hits and four RBIs to lead Scotia-Glenville to a Foothills Council victory over Hudson Falls.

Grace Purvis added three hits and two RBIs for the Lady Tartans.

SCHUYLERVILLE — Caitlin Kelleher finished 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs to lift Schuylerville to a Foothills Council victory over Queensbury.

Chrissy Putman was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for the Black Horses (11-2 overall, 8-2 Foothills), while Emily Vallee was 2-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs.

Teagan Andrews earned the win for Schuylerville, allowing six hits and striking out 11.

Emma Guilfoil had a solo home run and a single for Queensbury (6-7 overall, 6-5 Foothills), while Justice Colvin had a double and an RBI.

GLOVERSVILLE — Jen Vickery had two home runs, a double, single and scored three runs to lead Gloversville to a victory over Galway.

Alex Benfatti finished with three singles and three runs scored for the Huskies, while Gabby Langley had a double and scored three runs.

Sheyenne Beach added a double for Gloversville (8-6 overall).

Justine Quay finished with three singles and scored two runs for Galway (5-9 overall), while Emma Smith and Hanna Darling each had two singles and scored two runs.

Mikayla Neahr had two singles for the Golden Eagles, who had played a game at Fonda-Fultonville earlier in the day.

On Monday, Gloversville dropped 14-12 decision at home to Hudson Falls in a Foothills Council contest.
