H.S. Baseball Roundup: Tartans get past Sir Bills

SCOTIA — Andrew LeMorta pitched a complete-game three-hitter to lead Scotia-Glenville to a 10-1 victory over Johnstown in a Foothills Council baseball game Tuesday.

LeMorta struck out 12 for the Tartans, who improved to 7-3 in Foothills Council play with the win.

Johnstown (3-13 overall, 0-11 Foothills) is scheduled to travel to South Glens Falls today for a 4:30 p.m. contest.

COOPERSTOWN — Nick Hanna tossed a complete game four-hitter to lead Galway to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Duanesburg in a game played a Doubleday Field.

Hanna struck out 11 and walked none for the Golden Eagles. Hanna also had two hits, scored two runs and an RBI.

Alex Malanoski went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Galway (6-3 overall, 5-2 WAC), Mike Sowle singled twice and drove in a run and Travis Neahr added a single and an RBI.

Matt Gentile doubled and drove in a run for Duanesburg.

Bo Baker Classic

FORT PLAIN — Fort Plain finished second the Bo Baker Tournament on Saturday.

The Hilltoppers dropped an 8-1 decision to Hoosic Valley in the championship game after topping Hoosick Falls, 6-3, in the opening round.

Fonda-Fultonville lost 8-4 to Hoosic Valley in the first and 9-4 to Hoosick Falls in the consolation game.

In the championship game, Isaac Carlo had two singles, a double, RBI and two runs scored for Hoosic Valley, while Brendan Houghton had two singles and an RBI.

C.J. Bassett pitched a complete-game two-hitter to earn the win for the Indians.

John Cortese and Brady Fureno each had singles for Fort Plain, while Bryce Thibodeau had an RBI sacrifice fly.

In the first round, Fort Plain topped Hoosick Falls, 6-3.

Jaxson Yacowenia had a single, two runs scored, an RBI and four stolen bases for the Hilltoppers, while Cortese had two singles and two RBIs.

Bryce Thibodeau had two singles and an RBI for Fort Plain and earned the win on the mound.

Max Kipp, Andrew Stevens and Brandon Decker all had two singles for Hoosick Falls. Decker also had three RBIs.
