Kirk "Kip" Oathout Jr., 55, of Gloversville, passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, July 30, 2014.
Born April 30, 1959, in Gloversville, he was a son of Kirk Sr. and Carol "Jeanne" Gardner Oathout.
Kirk was a longtime employee of the local leather mills. He enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting, fishing and camping. His passion was working on the farm for many years taking care of the goats and pigs.
Besides his parents, Kirk is survived by his daughter, Kristy Grey of Albany; brother, Aaron Oathout (Valorie) of Gloversville; sisters, Robin Smith (Greg) of Arizona, Bettie Gillespie of Syracuse, NY, Helen "Lynn" Williams (Darien) of Mayfield, Brenda Chartrand (Adam) of Arkansas, Kelly Blankenship of Gloversville and Rhonda Bonfey (Greg) of Gloversville. Kirk is also survived by his grandchildren along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial visitation to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will take place on Sunday, August 3, 2014, from 3 to 4 p.m. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. Cremation will take place at Parkview Crematorium in Schenectady. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
