Patricia Ann Cramer Hayes of Broadalbin, NY, after a courageous fight with cancer, passed away June 8, 2014, at the age of 65 with her loving family by her side.
Patricia was born September 15, 1948, to Martin and Anna Mae Cramer.
She was the devoted wife to William D. Hayes, Jr., this June marking 48 years of marriage. She graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch high school in 1966.
Pat was employed by New York state in several different positions, retiring after 20 years of service from the Tax and Finance department. She also volunteered her time to help others, especially children. Pat volunteered at her church and taught Sunday School. She also went back to school to become a certified EMT, volunteering with the Broadalbin Ambulance Corp. And even after losing her battle with cancer, she still wanted to give back and hopefully help someone else by donating herself (anatomical gift) to Albany Medical College for research on the rare form of cancer that took her life.
She had many talents. In her spare time, she loved to paint, make beautiful quilts and sew clothes for her grandchildren. She also learned sign language, which she taught to the children of the church, as well as to her granddaughters Girl Scout troop #2156 of Broadalbin.
She loved to travel and took many cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean. She also was able to travel to Ireland with her sister Sophie, which was a dream of hers.
In addition to her husband William D. Hayes, Jr., Pat also left behind her children. William (Stephanie) Hayes of Broadalbin, Wendy Zepperi of Amsterdam and Connie (Howard) Hayes of West Hurley. She was also Nana to William IV, Michael (Amanda) and Katrina Hayes. James (Kaileigh) Miles and Tyler Miles. Timothy Zepperi, Courtney Madera. Cassie Brown, Maria and Antonia Provenzano. Great Nana to Haleigh, Kelsea, Madalyn, Evelyn and Karah Hayes and Elise Miles. Pat also left behind a dear friend, co-worker and travel companion Debra Clarkson and her husband Richard. They both were here for Pat and her family through this whole ordeal.
She is also survived by her siblings, Phil (Deb) Vennett of Schenectady. Martha (Donald) Rogers of Tennessee and Sophie (Michael) Hrycenko of Mass.
She was also survived by her mother-in-law, Elsie Hayes of Broadalbin along with many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Pat was predeceased by siblings Peter and Robert Vennett, Martin Cramer and Clare Cionek. Also by granddaughter, Katlyn Raffela Hayes and sister-in-law, Lois Hayes.
