Nancy J. Sowle, 55, of Bogden Road, Broadalbin, died Wednesday morning, April 30, 2014, at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady.
She was born in Gloversville on December 22, 1958, a daughter of Richard and Dorothy Chase Wilson and was a 1976 graduate of Gloversville High School. Nancy was a lifelong area resident.
She was employed at Taylor Made Products in Gloversville for nine years before leaving due to illness.
Nancy loved being around people and enjoyed spending time outdoors camping and fishing. She was an avid bowler and was a member of the Guys & Dolls Bowling League in Johnstown as well as the Classy Ladies League in Gloversville.
In addition to her father, she was predeceased by siblings, Mark Wilson, Anne Simpson, and Theresa Falkins.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph W. Sowle Jr., whom she married on September 20, 2003, of Broadalbin; her mother, Dorothy Wilson, a son, Joseph Wilson, a daughter, Amy Richardson, all of Gloversville; two brothers, Richard Wilson of Las Vegas, NV, and Brian Wilson of Gloversville; two sisters, Julie Wilson of Gloversville and Deanna McIntyre of Bardstown, KY; a stepsister, Valerie Wade of Gloversville; a half-sister, Tonya Wilson of Lake George; three granddaughters; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (corner of Route 29 and Black Street) Johnstown, with the Rev. Linda Martin, officiating. Burial will be in Union Mills Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
