Hilda Herrick Arnold, age 79, of Bremerton, WA, and a former Gloversville resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, following a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Francis and Nettie McDougall Herrick. She attended Gloversville schools. Hilda worked at the original Nathan Littauer Hospital before her marriage to Edward P. Arnold on July 18, 1953. Hilda loved life. She loved to ski, garden and dance. She remained active until her illness. She had a great sense of humor. She loved to return to her home town to spend time with her family.
In addition to her husband of 60 years, she is also survived by her daughters, Terry Arnold Friedman (Stu), Beverly Arnold (Jeff Richardson), Sandy James (Troy Briettenfeld) and Susan Arnold Spruth (Scott); and seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth Deere of Mayfield; and her brother, Marvin Herrick of Johnstown; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her brother, Francis Jr.; and her sister, Helen Hoyt; in addition to her parents.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at the First Baptist Church, 325 Comrie Avenue, Johnstown, NY, at 5:30 p.m., where a memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. R.W. Williams. A meal for family and guests will be served immediately following the service at the church hall.
