Cheryl A. Lockwood, age 69, of Johnstown, died peacefully at home on Thursday, January 9, 2014, following a long illness. She was born on September 5, 1944, in Gloversville, NY, the daughter of the late Edmond and Vilma Vacera Laverdure. She attended Gloversville schools. She was a homemaker and worked for many local companies.
She married Norman Lockwood, with whom she helped care for racehorses in Saratoga and many other tracks early in their life. He predeceased her in 1995.
She loved cooking, crafts and spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
Survivors include her children: Norman Lockwood of Fort Johnson, Jeffery (Janet) Lockwood of Junction City, Kansas, and Diane Lockwood of Johnstown; one brother, Roy (Lillian) Laverdure of Gloversville; three grandchildren: Aeriel Lockwood of Junction City, Kansas, Dylan Girard of Johnstown and Andrew Lockwood of Johnstown.
She was predeceased by her husband and her siblings, Edmond Laverdure, Delores Langston, and L. Joan Fisher.
Friends may call on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Gloversville Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Fern Dale Cemetery, Johnstown.
