Waldo Burlingame of Gloversville, celebrated his 90th birthday at a family celebration in Texas.
He was born Dec. 17, 1923, in Downsville, the son of George and Mae Burlingame. He graduated from Northville Central School before joining the Army Air Corps and serving in the South Pacific during World War II.
He was called back into service with the Air Force and the family lived in Massachusetts, Panama, Florida, Montana and Washington state before retiring in California. He then worked for
Federal Electric until moving back to Gloversville and retiring from the Gloversville Water Works.
He married the former Marguerite Heath in 1946, at the Northville Methodist Church and they recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. They are the oldest active members of the church. The couple have travelled to many different countries, some of which included skiing.
They have one son and spouse, Dick and Sylvia Burlingame of Boise, Idaho; and one daughter and spouse, Cheri and Ray Oberhoff of Needville, Texas, with whom they spend winters. They have five grandchildren and spouses: Rick and Laura Burlingame of Boise; Kimberly and Chris Connell of Shoshone, Idaho; Dani and Jerry Tillery of North Oaks, Minn.; Dena and David Dick of Needville; and Dale and Jackie Oberhoff of Richmond, Texas. They also have 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
