Julia E. Knowles 93, of Gloversville died Sunday morning at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home. She was born on January 6, 1920 in the Town of Waverly, NY. Julia was the daughter of the late Ernest and Luna Scovil Wait. She worked at Robinson & Smith Co., where she specialized in cleaning leather coats. Julia was a member of the Bleecker Community Church, Senior Citizens of Mayfield and Caroga Lake, and the Home Bureau Club of Bleecker, NY.
Julia was a loving caregiver, mother, wife and grandmother. Julia married George Knowles in Stillwater, NY, on November 13, 1943; he died in 1980.
Julia is survived by her children Richard(Victoria) of Gloversville, David(Hazel) of Lake Luzerne, NY, and daughter Patricia Violia of Wells, NY; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; also her sister Martha Wait of Messina, NY. She was predeceased by her daughter Laura Coursin.
Urn burial will take place on Saturday, November 9, 2013, in Bleecker Cemetery, Bleecker, NY. Cremation took place at Leatherstocking Crematory, Cherry Valley, NY.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Nathan-Littauer Hospital Nursing Home "East Wing" for all the loving care given to Julia.
