Herkimer volleyball reaches semifinals

SYRACUSE?- The Herkimer County Community?College women's volleyball team went 3-3 at the Onondaga Community?College Tournament on?Friday and Saturday.

Herkimer defeated Onondaga (25-15, 25-20) and SUNY?Delhi (25-15, 25-18) in preliminary play and lost to Finger Lakes (25-19, 24-26, 15-12) and Jefferson?(25-16, 25-22).

In the quarterfinals, the Lady Generals topped Monroe (25-19, 25-22) before losing to North Hampton in the semifinals, 25-15, 25-19.

For the tournament, Johnstown graduate Brynn Hlozansky had 71 digs, 45 kills, six aces and four blocks for Herkimer, while Dolgeville graduate Ashley?Mettler posted 58 digs, 49 kills and three aces. Johnstown graduate Zara Hyde finished with 32 digs, 12 kills and two blocks.

Herkimer (17-9 overall) will travel to FMCC?today for a 7 p.m. contest.
