AMSTERDAM - A man was arrested Wednesday after an investigation revealed he had stolen almost $2,000 worth of merchandise from Walmart over the course of a month, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department.

John V. Bottomley, 32, of 58 Arnold Ave., was charged with grand larceny. Police said Bottomley previously had been arrested for petit larceny.

Authorities said store surveillance showed Bottomley stole almost $2,000 in merchandise over the course of a month.

He was arraigned and sent to the Montgomery County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.
