AMSTERDAM - City police said a man allegedly sold drugs while he was under surveillance by the Police Department and state police.

Tony Rodriguez, 29, of 18 William St., Apt. 1, was arrested by city police and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony.

Police said on Thursday officers and troopers conducted surveillance on East Main and John streets in response to complaints about drug activity in the area.

Rodriguez was observed conducting hand-to-hand drug transactions and was found to be in possession of four zip-top bags containing cocaine, police said.

He was held for arraignment in City Court.
