Local golfers compete in NENY PGA Junior Championship

GLENS?FALLS -?Alex Bond of Broadalbin, James Phelps Jr. of Amsterdam, and Josh Fonda and Kevin Johnston of Gloversville competed at Glens Falls Country Club in the Northeastern New York PGA Junior Championship Saturday.

The top 30 players of the 215 NENY PGA Junior members were invited to compete in this tournament, according to NENY PGA Associate Director Doug Evans.

In the boys 16- to 18-year-old Division, Josh Fonda (Pine Brook Golf Club) and Kevin Johnston (Nick Stoner Golf Course) tied for 10th place.

In the boys 13- to 15-year-old division, Alex Bond (Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course) tied for second place and James Phelps Jr. (Amsterdam Municipal GC) finished ninth.

Other local junior golfers who competed this summer in the NENY PGA Junior tournaments were Stuart Bond (Broadalbin), Noah Scott (Broadalbin), Michael Schebel (Amsterdam), Brett Getman (Gloversville), James Snyder (Gloversville) and Cody Husek (Amsterdam).
