Donald Lee Orr

Donald Lee Orr died peacefully on July 27, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam with his loving family by his side.

Born on June 16, 1943, at the family home in Wells, New York, to the late Lee Charles Orr and the late Mary Alice Tubbs Orr. Donald had two brothers, the late George Orr of Wells (Sandra); and James Orr (Susan) of Wells and Mechanicville; one sister, Marjorie Haak (the late Donald Haak) of Warrensburg. He had many nieces and nephews.

Donald was married to Mary Catherine Casline Orr. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in May of this year. During those 50 years, there were five children born into their family: daughters, Cindy Orr Parslow of Piseco, Donna Marie Orr (deceased at birth), Brenda Orr Jaquish of Lake Pleasant, and Kathleen Orr Stuart of Hope; one son; Ronald Orr of Broadalbin.

Donald had nine grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Ryan Parslow, Michael Parslow, Kristen Jaquish, David Jaquish, Christopher Orr, Amber Orr, Kayla Stuart, and twins, Cheyenne and Justin Stuart. He also had one great-grandchild, Landon Parslow and another great-grandchild due to arrive in September of this year.

Donald attended Wells Central School. He was a lifelong resident of the area of Wells, Speculator, and Lake Pleasant, N.Y. He lived in Speculator at the time of his death.

His life occupations were driving trucks and logging. He retired from the Town of Arietta Highway Department in 2012. He loved the Adirondack Mountains where his favorite times were spent fishing, hunting, trapping, and camping with his family. His life revolved around his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and/or to the Foundation of St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, N.Y.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at the Speculator Cemetery in Speculator, N.Y. at 11 a.m.
