Robert Harry Parkinson, 81, of Fort Plain, N.Y., died July 6, 2013, at the VA Hospital, Albany, N.Y.
He was born April 18, 1932, in Portland, Maine, the son of Harry and Ruth Allen Parkinson.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1951 and was a 40-year resident of Fort Plain.
He was employed at Life Savers and Parky's Video.
He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons of the Fort Plain Lodge No. 0433, Shriners, Scottish Rite and VFW.
On April 7, 2001, he married Diana Graham at the Lutheran Church of Fort Plain.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ann Parkinson; his mother, Ruth Cargill; his father, Harry Parkinson; his brother, Don Parkinson; and his grandson, Kyle Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Diana Parkinson; children, Charlene (Danny) Denofrio, Tammy (Al) Augsburger, Robert Parkinson, Barbara Smith, Dawn (Ron) Viet, Mark (Dee) Parkinson, Marissa Parkinson; sister, Joan Martin; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 11, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the St. Johnsville Masonic Lodge. A ceremony will be conducted by the Fort Plain Masonic Lodge at 7 p.m. after calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, Mass. 01104-2396 in memory of Robert Parkinson.
