Chess tournament Saturday in city

GLOVERSVILLE-The city Recreation Commission will host a free chess tournament open to players of all ages who reside anywhere, a news release said.

The tournament will be at the Senior Citizens Service Center of Gloversville & Fulton?County, 53 Church St., on Saturday, with registration starting at 8:30 a.m.

Games will be played in eight player Swiss system sections with round one starting at 9 a.m., the release said.

Rounds two and three will start at 10 and 11 a.m. Section winners will have a playoff after a short lunch break and refreshments will be available for sale, the release said.

People who attend are asked to bring a chess clock, set and board if they have them available, the release said.
