Library begins reading program

GLOVERSVILLE - The Dig Into Reading Summer Reading Program sign-up begins for children and teens at the Gloversville Public Library at 3 p.m. today.

Programs, crafts, books and other activities will be offered at the library this week, and July and August.

Attendance at some events is limited. Sign up in person at the library, visit the library's website or call the library.

Some activities include:

Tuesday:?Excavate chocolate chip cookies, 10:30 a.m.

Wednesday: Balloon Extravaganza. Balloon creations by Daryl Baldwin, 10:30 a.m.

Thursday: "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak, with storyteller Sonny, 10:30 a.m.

Friday: A gardening series begins with Vince DeSantis. This is for children accompanied by an adult. Meet at the library at 10:15 a.m. Children will visit the garden site (a short walk or ride from the library), learn about seeds and plants, and discuss what people might plant in the Gloversville Library's section of the community garden. People should dress appropriately for the outside and dirt.

July 1: Archaeologist David Starbuck presents a program about archaeologists.

July 2: Patriotic craft at 10:30 a.m.

The library will be closed July 4.
