I would like to take a moment to thank the voters that turned out May 21 to approve the Gloversville Enlarged School District's proposed budget and to elect candidates to the Board of Education. As a newly elected member, I am very thankful to be given an opportunity to serve.
The mission of public education is an important one. It is a commitment to our children and to our community to provide a quality education and an equal playing field for young people as they graduate and begin the next stage of their lives.
I am sure the next three years will be very challenging, but also very rewarding. I plan to work hard to do what I can to help GESD improve its graduation rates, continue to provide a diversity of services, and manage a sensible budget that properly funds the school district while maintaining current tax levels.
As I get ready to attend my first meeting, I am excited to learn more about the challenges facing our district and to determine how my experiences will help us make decisions to move forward toward a better education for our students.
Thank you again for your support. I am thankful and am looking forward to working hard for the next three years.
