H.S. Baseball Roundup: Fort Plain routs Galway

FORT PLAIN - Joey Ray had a double, three-run home run, four RBIs and two runs scored, leading Fort Plain to an 18-1 Western Athletic Conference North Division win over Galway on Thursday.

Ray's three-run home run came as part of a nine-run fourth inning for the Hilltoppers, who also got a two-run home run from Dakota Nemecek in the fourth.

Nemecek also had a single, two RBIs and two runs scored for Fort Plain (17-2 overall, 16-0 WAC), while Marcus Failing had two singles, two RBIs and two runs scored. Drew Fureno added a single, two RBIs and three runs scored for the Hilltoppers, who are ranked third in the latest state Class C poll.

Chris Hanifin earned the win on the mound for Fort Plain, improving to 7-1 on the season. Hanifin also had two singles and two RBIs.

Taylor Hartman had two singles for Galway (7-9 WAC), while Ben Manna had a single, triple and scored a run.

SCHOHARIE - Aaron Valvo pitched a two-hitter, leading Schoharie to a win over Middleburgh.

The Indians improved to 12-4 in WAC South play, sharing the division title with Duanesburg.

Middleburgh slipped to 3-13 in WAC play with the loss.

SOUTH GLENS FALLS - Josh Hay fired a five-hitter, leading South Glens Falls to a win over Glens Falls.

Hay struck out 12 on his way to the complete-game victory.

Mitch Fearis had three RBIs for South Glens Falls (11-9 overall, 8-6 Foothills).

John Myers had a double for Glens Falls (9-9 overall, 4-10 Foothills)

SCHENECTADY - Joe Zielinski had a double and two RBIs, leading Schenectady to a win over Amsterdam at Central Park.

Nick Patierne added a double and an RBI for Schenectady (10-5 Big 10).

Jonardy Anil had a double, triple and three RBIs for Amsterdam, while Ayden Healy finished with two singles.

Andrew Rouse added a double for the Rams.

Amsterdam (10-8 overall, 8-7 Big 10) is scheduled to host Schenectady today at 6:30 p.m. at Shuttleworth Park in its regular-season finale.

New York Mills 16, Dolgeville 11

NEW YORK MILLS - A five-run outburst in the sixth inning lifted New York Mills to a Center State Conference win over Dolgeville.

The Blue Devils trailed 8-3 after three innings before scoring three runs in the fourth inning and five in the fifth inning to take a 11-9 lead.

The Marauders pulled out the win with two runs in the fifth and five in the sixth.

Griffin Baur, J.T. Ross, Zack Vennaro and Terry Nichols all had doubles for New York Mills.

Josh Gross had a double for Dolgeville (7-10 overall), while Johann Doerrer and Wayne Johnson each had triples.
