JOHNSTOWN - City police this week announced guidelines for people arriving at Johnstown High School's annual prom Saturday at the Johnstown Masonic Temple.
"We recognize that the attendees wish to make a grand entrance at this formal event," police Chief Mark Gifford said in a news release. "However, these grand entrances must remain reasonable and safe, not only for the attendees, but also for the general public."
Gifford said the city shuts down a block of North Perry Street, but those entering must obey traffic laws. He said vehicles must be registered and must conform to vehicle and traffic laws. Vehicles not allowed are: electrically-driven mobility assistance devices operated by a person with a disability, vehicles which run only upon rails or tracks, snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, and tractors and farm equipment.
