Doris M. Martin, age 92, of Johnstown, passed away on Friday April 12, 2013.
Born on February 23, 1921, in Weehawken, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Floyd G. Howard and Henrietta E. Buttonbaum Howard.
Mrs. Martin had resided in Fairfield, New Jersey, since 1952. She retired in 1987 as an office manager for Montclair Community Hospital after 40 years of service. She then moved to Johnstown in 1999.
Doris was active as a member of the First Baptist Church of Caldwell, NJ, a member of the Live Wires at West Caldwell Union Church, a Girl Scout leader for Essex County and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Fairfield Fire Department.
Survivors include: one son Russell (Helen) Martin of Johnstown; four daughters Kathy Martin of Johnstown, Sharon (Dan) Hird of Modena, Nancy (Chuck) Hart of Johnstown and Beverly (Wayne) Baker of Cherry Valley; one brother Robert Howard; five sisters Virginia Smolley, Catherine Kashuba, Eleanor Johnson, Louise Makowski and Edith Szapor; ten grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Terrence F. Martin Sr., two sons Terrence F. Martin Jr. and Robert A. Martin; three sisters Mildred Stilitino, Arlaine Miller and Marion Crowhurst.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher Street, Johnstown. The Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams will preside.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa, New Jersey.
