Herbert C. Strait

Pastor Herbert C. Strait Jr., age 55, of Montgomery, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013, at the Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, New York, surrounded by his loving family, congregation and dear friends.

Pastor Strait was born on December 30, 1957, in Gloversville, a son of the late Herbert C. Strait Sr. and Velma J. Crannell Strait.

Pastor Strait was a youth minister at First Baptist Church of Johnstown, NY, where he served for seven years until 1992. He then became the pastor of Bleecker Street Church in Gloversville, NY, where his ministry continued to grow. Pastor Strait returned back to Johnstown First Baptist Church in 1995, where he studied at the Great Commission Bible Institute, under the direction of Pastor Bruce J. Hoose. He was ordained in April 1999 and became the pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Montgomery, N.Y., in 2001, where he served until the time of his passing.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Bradt Strait, whom he married November 22, 1980. He is also survived by his five children; Timothy, Christopher, Rebekah, David and Carlee. He is also survived by his four brothers; Robert, David, Jeff, and Paul. He is also the very proud poppa of Taryn, Avery and Jackson.

A Memorial Service will be conducted on Monday, March 11th, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Faith Baptist Church, 34 East Searsville Road, Montgomery, NY.

Calling hours for family and friends will be on Tuesday, March 12th, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown, N.Y. Funeral services will also be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13th, at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville, NY.
