Sophie Rose Ingalls, 87, of Amsterdam, passed away on Sunday, February 10, at St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla., where she wintered for the past 17 years.
Sophie was born on September 1, 1925, in Amsterdam, daughter of the late Anthony and Marie Spragno.
She attended Amsterdam schools. On August 4, 1947, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Joseph Ingalls Sr., who passed away in 1992. They were happily married for 45 years. Sophie was employed by Fownes Gloves for over 20 years. She then went on to work for Breton Industries for another 24 years.
Sophie was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the Rosary Society, volunteering her time to make rosaries. She enjoyed spending time with family, reading, and visiting with her friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed.
Sophie is survived by: her two sons, Kenneth (Linda) Ingalls Jr. of Amsterdam and John T. (Christine) Ingalls of St. Petersburg, Fla.; her sister, Vicky Iacono of Rochester; three grandchildren, Kenny, Renee and John; and three great-grandchildren, Brittanie, Layla and John.
Cremation was at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, St. Petersburg, Fla.
