Hurlbut Lee "Herb" Wildermuth, 94, of Old State Road, Northville, died Thursday, January 31, 2013, at the Maplewood Manor Nursing Home in Ballston Spa, where he had resided for the last ten years. He was born in Albany, N.Y. on October 17, 1918, the son of the late Lee and Isabel Simmons Wildermuth.
Herb was a United States Navy veteran, having served during World War II on the USS HAAS from 1943 to 1946. Over the years he held various jobs: working as the Northville village policeman, a truck driver for Grand Union and in retirement he enjoyed working at McDonald's.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 1076 of Northville and a member of the NRA.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Ina B. Whitman Wildermuth, on November 25, 1987.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Wildermuth of Coxsackie, N.Y.; one son, Jerry (Bonny) Wildermuth of Northville; one daughter, Carol (Skip) Shippee of Clifton Park; two stepdaughters, Sue Ann (Harry) Albright of Coxsackie, and Marie Berry of Gloversville; one sister, Yvonne Maloney of Troy. Twenty-seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive him. He was predeceased by his brother, Gerald Wildermuth; and two sisters, Cora Poppey and Ruth Miller.
Friends may call on Saturday, February 2, 2013, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Burial will be held in the spring in King Cemetery, town of Northampton.
