Man threw cans at taxi driver: police

January 31, 2013
The Leader Herald

GLOVERSVILLE - City police said a man was arrested after throwing beer cans at a taxi driver.

Jamal C. Barksdale, 26, of 76 N. Main St., Apartment C, was arrested Saturday and charged with second-degree assault and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Police said officers talked to the cab driver, who said an intoxicated man threw two full beer cans at him after he refused to drive the man to his destination before receiving payment.

Both cans struck the driver. The driver suffered a broken finger on his left hand, police said.

Police said Barksdale is accused of getting into a brief scuffle with the driver, which resulted in the driver's shirt being torn.

After Barksdale was arrested, he was found to have a single hydrocodone pill in his possession, without a valid prescription for the controlled substance, police said.

Barksdale was released with an appearance ticket.
