John Karl Brindle, 78, of Gloversville, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2013, at the Nathan Littauer Hospital with his loving family by his side, after being stricken.
John was born on April 1, 1934, in Amsterdam, N.Y. He was the son of the late Howard A. and Mary Karner Brindle. He was a graduate of Wilbur Lynch High School in Amsterdam. John worked for the Glove Theatre as a manager. He worked as a salesman for both Edwards Paper Company and Beacon Wholesale. John owned and operated his own business, Blue Ribbon Supply and retired from Lumas Fargo Armored Car Company in 2004.
John was an avid hunter and loved the Adirondacks. He was a member of the Cooperstown Junction Rod and Gun Club and also the Pine Tree Rifle Club. Throughout his life, John collected numerous types of guns, and was a member of the NRA.
John is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Brindle of Gloversville, whom he married on October 29, 1994. He is also survived by his two sisters, Judy Brindle of Englewood, Florida and Mary Fay (Richard) Siegfreed of Nassau, N.Y.; one sister-in-law, Gerry Brindle of Englewood, Florida; two sons, Bill and Rick Brindle, both of Gloversville; one stepson, Randy (Pam) Lott of Amsterdam; one stepdaughter, Sandra Van Allen of Gloversville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Howard Brindle; two daughters-in-law, Kelly Brindle and Terry Brindle; and one son-in-law, Charles Van Allen Jr.
Friends may call on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Gloversville Funeral Service, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Burial will be held in Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.
