GLOVERSVILLE - After watching his team drop a disappointing 81-38 decision to league-leading Scotia-Glenville on Tuesday, Gloversville coach Mark LeFever was wondering how his team would react Friday night against Hudson Falls.

It did not take long for him to get his answer.

The Dragons dominated play in the first half, outscoring Hudson Falls 40-15 and cruised to the 68-36 final score in Foothills Council action at Gloversville High School.

"It was extremely important to bounce back with the effort we had tonight," LeFever said. "We had balanced scoring and everyone contributed. After a defeat like we had the other day you are not sure how the kids are going to react. We had two great practices, got back to the basics and fundamental stuff and it showed tonight."

The Dragons (4-4 overall, 3-3 Foothills Council) got off to a fast start with Barceem Dukes taking control under the basket for two quick baskets followed by a lay up from Asa Barnhill.

Matt Connolly put the Tigers on the board with his 3-pointer with 3:55 left in the opening period.

Gloversville took control of the game, holding the Hudson Falls shooters to long range attempts and controlling the defensive boards, while closing out the period on an 11-3 run.

The Dragons continued to pull away early in the second period, outscoring Hudson Falls 13-0 in the opening five minutes for a commanding 30-6 advantage.

Wyatt Gorham broke the scoring drought for the Tigers with his 3-pointer. Christian Henkel added another three pointer and Mitch Heym converted three free throws to give Hudson Falls 15 points, 12 of which came from 3-point range.

However, Gloversville continued to roll adding 10 more points before the end of the period to carry a 40-15 advantage into the locker room at the half.

The Tigers matched Gloversville's scoring in the third period as Gorham added two more 3-pointers in the period, while the Dragons got five of their 11 points in the period from Hunter Goodwin.

With the starters on the bench the entire fourth quarter, the Gloversville reserves connected for 17 fourth-quarter points to lock up the 68-36 victory.

"The game plan was to shuffle in eight to nine deep tonight and we got quality minutes from everybody," LeFever said.

All 14 players dressed for Friday's game saw action with 12 of them putting points in the book.

Barnhill led the Gloversville scoring with 11 points to go with four rebounds, two steals and two assists. Dukes pulled down 14 rebounds to go with six points. Goodwin and Keyshawn Arnold added nine points apiece, while Corin Smith and Kevin Johnston had seven each.

Heym led Hudson Falls with 12 points consisting of a 6-for-12 effort from the free throw line and two 3-pointers. Gorham added six points on two 3-pointers and Henkel finished with five.

Gloversville will look to score back-to-back victories for the first time this year Tuesday when it travels to play Broadalbin-Perth.

"That is going to be a tough contest again and we don't have much time to prepare for it," LeFever said. "We know [B-P coach] Tucker [Gifford] will have his guys ready to go and it will be another close battle in the Foothills."

The Dragons and Patriots opened their Foothills Council campaigns against each other on Dec. 11. Gloversville led B-P, 37-36, heading into the final period before pulling away to a 51-43 victory.
