January 3, 2013
The Leader Herald

FLORIDA - State police at Fultonville said a New York City man was charged Wednesday under Leandra's Law.

Ranjit Singh, 55, of Flushing, Queens, was charged at 12:57 p.m. Wednesday on the Thruway with a felony count of aggravated driving while impaired by drugs (Leandra's Law), endangering the welfare of a child and other undisclosed traffic violations.

Troopers said other drivers reported Singh driving recklessly and weaving from lane to lane before crashing into the guiderails in the median. Singh and his 14-year-old daughter weren't injured in the accident.

Troopers said they discovered Singh was taking more than the prescribed amount of a prescription drug and was impaired from the drug.

Singh was arraigned in Town Court and sent to Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

Singh's daughter was released to her mother.
