Winter weather alters schedule

Winter weather has altered the local sports schedule Saturday for the second time in three days, again postponing holiday basketball tournaments.

The consolation and championship games of the Gloversville Holiday Tournament have been postponed. Fonda-Fultonville was scheduled to play Amsterdam at 6 p.m. with the Dragons facing off against Mekeel Christian Academy at 7:30. No make-up date has been announced.

The championship game of the John Woodward Holiday Tournament between the Northville Falcons and the Doane Stuart Thunder Chicken was postponed until 6 p.m. Saturday. The consolation game was played at 1 p.m. as scheduled. Duanesburg beat Galway 70-52 to take third in the tournament.

The Cutspec Tournament game between Dolgeville and host St. Johnsville was postponed with no make-up date announced.

The Fort Plain Hilltoppers were to travel to Cooperstown on Saturday for the championship game of the Dick White Holiday Tournament at 8 p.m. The game was postponed with no make-up date announced. Cobleskill-Richmondville was to face host Cooperstown at 6 p.m.

In girls' basketball, the Broadalbin-Perth Tournament was postponed with no make-up date announced. Broadalbin-Perth was to play Stillwater at 7 p.m. in the championship game, while Canajoharie and Hudson were to face off in the consolation game at 5:30 p.m.

The Amsterdam Lady Rams did not play in their Holiday Showcase on Saturday as Kingston did not make the trip due to the snowstorm. No make-up date has been announced.
