Boys Basketball Roundup: Canajoharie tops Johnstown, 55-49

CANAJOHARIE - Josh Gonzalez scored 20 points, nine in the fourth quarter, as the Canajoharie Cougars picked up a 55-49 win over the Johnstown Sir Bills in the second game of the Andy Palmer Christmas Classic boys basketball tournament Saturday.

Zach Folts added 10 points for the Cougars (7-2 overall).

Jerry Groom led the Sir Bills (2-6 overall) with 16 points and Cody Naish added 12.

Johnstown lost both of its tournament games.

The tournament will conclude Wednesday with a game between the Cougars and Schoharie at 7:30 p.m.

Duanesburg 70, Galway 52

NORTHVILLE - Dylan Madison scored 17 points leading three Duanesburg players in double figures as the Eagles placed third in the tournament with a win over Galway.

Nick Loukides and Adatola Lawal scored 13 points each for Duanesburg, which hit 10 total 3-point baskets.

Dan Diaz led Galway with 12 points, while Evan Ceroalo and Andrew Izzo scored 10 points each.

Madison and Diaz were named to the all-tournament team.

The championship game between the host Northville Falcons and Doane Stuart Thunder Chicken was postponed due to weather and will be played Jan. 5 at 6 p.m.
