Mrs. Shirley A. Salvione, age 65, died Friday morning, December 28, 2012 at her home in Gloversville, surrounded by her family, following a long illness.
She was born November 12, 1947, in Gloversville, the daughter of Helen Sitts Ward and the late Herbert Ward. She was a 1966 graduate of Gloversville High School and had worked in the bakery of Price Chopper in Gloversville for many years until her illness.
Shirley was married to Kenneth Salvione on February 14, 1969. He died July 31, 2009.
Survivors include four daughters: Karen Salvione (Don) of Gloversville, Michelle Buckley (Jim) of Gloversville, Raydeen Iannotti (Scott)of Johnstown and Terri Salvione (Scott) of Gloversville; her mother, Helen Sitts Ward of Amsterdam; four brothers: Frank Ward, John Ward, Michael Ward (Marion) and Robert Ward (Viola); eight sisters: Charlene Damico, Lillian Houser (Don), Sally Cozzolino (Robert), Frances Williams (Albert), Linda Brockhum (Eddie), Danielle Shibley (Todd), Sharon Benson and Mary Terry. Also surviving are her 12 grandchildren: Kayla, Jimmy, Shay, Danielle, Corey, Nicole, Kirsten, Devin, Kadin, Samantha, Zack and Lilly; three great-Grandchildren: Aubrey, Emmalee and Ajanae; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Shirley was predeceased by two sisters: Caroline Ward and Dorothy Krueger.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, December 30, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating.
