Mrs. Elizabeth L. Zayicek, age 82, of Mayfield, died Sunday, December 9, 2012, at her daughter's home in Mayfield.
She was born September 25, 1930, in Chatham, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of the late Frank and Ella Stewart MacFarlane. She was a graduate of Chatham High School and Harkins Business School, New Brunswick, Canada.
Elizabeth came to the United States in 1958. She was employed by N.A. Taylor Company of Gloversville for 34 years, retiring in 1994 as purchasing agent.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Edward Cyril McGrattan, in 1958 and also by her second husband of 33 years, Stanley Zayicek, in 1999. Elizabeth also was predeceased by her stepson, James Zayicek; and five sisters, Doris MacDonald, Jeanette Arsenault, Olive Duffy, Charlotte Miller and Vera Harris.
Left to cherish her memory are three sons, Leo McGrattan (Mary), Edward McGrattan (Barb) and James McGrattan (Sue); a daughter, Stephanie M. Hathaway (Jim); two stepdaughters, Gail Andrews and Barbara Johnston (Paul). "Nana" will be greatly missed by her 11 granddaughters, nine grandsons and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and a special cousin, Bertha Kenny.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, December 13, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at noon, with the Rev. L. David Almleaf officiating. Interment will take place at Union Rural Cemetery, Mayfield.
