Girls Basketball Roundup: Wood powers B-P past Albany Leadership

BROADALBIN - Kaitlin Wood scored 28 points and grabbed eight rebounds to power Broadalbin-Perth to a 65-41 win over Albany Leadership in a non-league girls basketball game Friday.

Wood connected on four 3-pointers for B-P.

The Lady Patriots jumped out to a 27-9 lead in the first quarter and finished the first half with a 40-16 advantage on their way to the win.

Katie Herba finished with 15 points, 12 rebounds, five steals and five assists for B-P (2-0 overall), while Rachel Orapello added 10 points.

Kenna Gordon scored 18 points to lead Albany Leadership.

ROTTERDAM - Hailee Metzold scored 26 points, including six 3-pointers, to lead Schalmont to a win over Fonda-Fultonville.

The Lady Sabres jumped out to a 25-7 lead in the first quarter.

Cassandra Egelston finished with 12 points to lead Fonda-Fultonville (2-1 overall, 0-1 Colonial), while Emily Frollo had 10 points, six rebounds and four assists. Monica Derby added nine rebounds for the Lady Braves.

MAYFIELD - After going 0-18 last season and 0-2 to start this season, Mayfield got on the winning track with a WAC North victory over St. Johnsville.

Nicole Little finished with 14 points for the Lady Panthers (1-2 overall, 1-1 WAC), while Alex Sheldon finished with 11 points. Kylie Manoogian added nine points for Mayfield, which outscored St. Johnsville 21-11 in the first half.

Rylie Smith scored a game-high 21 points to lead St. Johnsville (0-1 overall, 0-1 WAC).
