State Senate ballots still under review

December 7, 2012

FONDA -The judge and lawyers for both sides in the 46th State Senate District ballot-counting election trial were to continue their work today in state Supreme Court.

After the Nov. 6 general election, Democrat Cecilia Tkaczyk had a 58,314-to-58,175 vote lead over Republican George Amedore. But acting state Supreme Court Judge Guy Tomlinson is expected to rule on several objections to ballots in the ongoing trial.

Gary Ginsburg, Tkaczyk's campaign spokesman, said today two separate teams of attorneys were due to be back in court today in Fonda. He said about 750 disputed ballots are left to review, many from Greene and Ulster counties.

He expressed a hope the process can be "speeded up" so his candidate could "hit the ground running" if she takes office at the start of the year.

Amedore spokesperson Kris Thompson couldn't be reached this morning.
