Della Mae Knapp, 76, of First Avenue Broadalbin, died Friday at home.
She was born in Broadalbin on March 18, 1936, a daughter of Harold and Grace Cook Gibson and attended local schools. Della moved to Maryland and returned to Gloversville in 1954.
Mrs. Knapp was an Avon representative for several years and enjoyed promoting and using Avon products. She was a member of the Women of the Moose in Gloversville. Della loved to travel and also enjoyed country music. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed a very special bond with her granddaughter, Jessi and great-granddaughter, Hannah.
She was married to Robert R. Knapp. He died May 16, 2001. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Frank Holiday, Jr. who died May 10, 2012.
Survivors include a son, Reginald R. Knapp of Gloversville; two daughters, Judy Rios of Northport, FL and Michelle Palmatier of Amsterdam; a brother, Harley Gibson of Delmar, DE; three sisters, Sylvia Beck of Morristown, TN, Helene Sheffield of Colleyville, TX, and Carol Ann Wyant of Key West, FL; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation will be performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Her remains will be interred at the Saratoga National Cemetery 200 Duell Road Schuylerville with her late husband on Wednesday at 1 p.m. Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 Johnstown.
