Dolgeville volleyball second at tournament

DOLGEVILLE - The Dolgeville volleyball team finished second Saturday at the Dolgeville Invitational.

The Blue Devils finished in a three-way tie with Westmoreland and Mount Markham at 7-3 on the day. Mount Markham earned the title by virtue of total defensive points with 196. Dolgeville finished second with 194, while Westmoreland was third with 187.

Cooperstown finished fourth at 6-4, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill was fifth at 3-7 and Old Forge was sixth at 0-10.

Westmoreland's Allison Brockway was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

Dolgeville's Ashley Mettler and Emily Young also were named to the all-tournament team along with Katie Landcastle (Westmoreland), Emily Timian (Mount Markham), Erin Hascup (Cooperstown), Sam Kogut (Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) and Shelby Egnaczyk (Old Forge).
