Arthur J. ‘Jim’ Rice

Arthur J. "Jim" Rice, 78, of Gloversville, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012, at his home.

He was born November 14, 1934, in Gloversville, N.Y. to the late Arthur Rice and Elizabeth Fraiser Rice. Jim was a 1953 graduate of Gloversville High School and a nine year veteran of the National Guard, serving from 1954 to 1963. He was a retired Teamster and a member of the Concordia Club, Bleecker Fish and Game Club, Mayfield Servicemen's Club, the New York American Legion and the NRA. Jim was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Rice; two sons, Arthur "AJ" and Eric; a daughter, Kristen; four grandchildren, Patrick, Keegan, Ava, and Lily.

Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.
